Solar Power for the Future

When we think of Yorkshire an image of the lush green Yorkshire dales always springs to mind - rolling green hills and blue skies. However, the reality for many homeowners within Yorkshire is like that of the rest of the UK. It is a time of financial doom and gloom with growing unemployment and spiralling living costs. Every year energy providers are introducing substantial price hikes and household bills rise steeply. However, with Solar panels Yorkshire households are able to take steps to reduce their long-term energy bills.

One of the many ways in which it is possible for ordinary people to take steps to reduce electricity bills in the long-term is through the installation of solar panels within their homes. These are panels which contain cells which generate electrical power by converting solar radiation into electricity.

As the government struggles to deal with growing concerns about climate change, various incentives have been introduced for households that are willing to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint by using alternative energy resources.

The UK government has introduced the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme which means that households with solar panel systems installed can actually receive payment for the electricity that they generate for their own needs as well as being able to sell any surplus energy to the national grid.

Whilst solar power can be costly to install it can have a long-term beneficial effect on household bills. Energy costs are rising year on year and this situation is not going to change. By acting now it is possible to make future savings and quite possibly future earnings. Now that is a powerful reason to change.
